Aneurysmal degeneration of fluoropolymer-coated paclitaxel-eluting stent in the superficial femoral artery: a rising concern

چکیده
Abstract Background Although several clinical reports demonstrated a durable patency rate after novel fluoropolymer-coated paclitaxel-eluting stent (Eluvia; Boston Scientific, Marlborough, MA, USA) placement, aneurysmal degeneration drug-eluting (Eluvia) placement has raised concerns. Here, we report case with progressive aneurysm formation on serial angiography and intravascular ultrasound over 50 months for superficial femoral artery atheromatous plaque. Case presentation A 79-year-old woman right leg intermittent claudication at 100 m distance was referred to our hospital. Pre-procedural showed long-segment severe stenosis from the middle-to-distal part of artery, 7 mm wide placed. However, patient had recurrence in lower extremity 25 thereafter. Angiography revealed de novo distal popliteal proximal in-stent restenosis. Subsequently, underwent endovascular therapy these lesions. In addition, time enlargement maximum vessel diameter 10.0 edge stent. Intermittent side recurred again (Eluvia). middle artery. Peri-stent contrast staining found site. Intravascular further 12.0 Conclusions We stenosis.

Two-month angioscopic evaluation of superficial femoral artery treated with paclitaxel-coated nitinol drug-eluting stent.
A 76-year-old woman presented with life-limiting claudication in the left leg. Ankle brachial index (ABI) was 1.07/0.63 (right/left). Duplex ultrasound showed a decreased flow pattern of the left popliteal artery with normal flow pattern in the common femoral artery (CFA), and stenosis or occlusion of the left SFA was strongly suspected. Angiography 1 month later showed severe stenosis in the o...

BACKGROUND Although durable clinical outcomes have been reported, arterial repair after paclitaxel-coated nitinol drug-eluting stent (Zilver PTX) implantation in the superficial femoral artery (SFA) remains unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS Angioscopic evaluation was performed in SFA intra-stent surfaces 80±29 (range, 49-135) days or 84±18 (range, 52-112) days following Zilver PTX (20 stents in 10...
متن کاملCritical evaluation of stents in the peripheral arterial disease of the superficial femoral artery – focus on the paclitaxel eluting stent
The endovascular management of obstructive disease of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) is challenging due to unique anatomical and biomechanical forces. Obstructive lesions of the SFA make up the largest proportion of lesions leading to symptomatic peripheral arterial disease. Accordingly, endovascular treatment of SFA disease is becoming increasingly common and, in many cases, is the prefe...
متن کاملISAR‐PEBIS (Paclitaxel‐Eluting Balloon Versus Conventional Balloon Angioplasty for In‐Stent Restenosis of Superficial Femoral Artery): A Randomized Trial
BACKGROUND Paclitaxel-eluting balloon (PEB) angioplasty has superior efficacy compared with conventional balloon angioplasty (BA) for de novo lesions of superficial femoral artery (SFA). Studies investigating the angiographic and clinical performance of PEB angioplasty versus BA for in-stent restenosis of SFA are limited. We performed a randomized trial to investigate angiographic and clinical ...

C omplete percutaneous revascularization, including the treatment of complex lesions and chronic total occlusions, has become a frequent reality in interventional cardiology. Although the overall need for repeat revascularization due to drug-eluting stent (DES) restenosis remains in singledigit levels, in highly complex forms of coronary artery disease, itmay significantly compromise the long-t...
